5 Best Books To Read in 2020- Best Book Recommadations

Updated: Aug 9, 2020

Some of the best books to read in 2020. Add these books to your list they are worth reading.

Have you ever wondered why you can sleep peacefully at night? Or why you can go to your college or office without worrying about your life?. It's because someone is there to protect us. ⠀

I am talking about the Police force of the country. Who doesn't get much credit for their work, but if anything wrong happens, they are the first to be blamed.⠀

So the story I gonna share with you today is of an ordinary boy from Bandra, a son of a Punjabi musician and a Pahadi housewife, from a family that had no links with the power-wielders or the elite of the city of Mumbai. But then too, he went on to become the DG (Director General) one of the most coveted officers in the police hierarchy.⠀

Starting story cover's his entire childhood that how he entered into the police force and then the story gets excited when he deals with the top underworld don of Mumbai from Tiger Memon to Dawood Ibrahim to Chhota Rajan for their involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blasts. Apart from this, it includes a detailed explanation of the arrest of Sanjay Dutt for hiding Ak47 and Arun Gawli is known as "Daddy" for various murder charges.⠀

And the last part is quite sad as it includes, an incident which has put Mumbai into pieces the terrorist attack of 26/11. Where how brave officers like Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte, and Tukaram Ombale were martyred, is explained in detail.⠀

Apart from this, he shares his entire tale as to how he got an untimely transfer due to his superior's envy and how fake allegations were put on him. But he dealt with everything courageously.⠀

The book is so close to my heart because it entirely deals with the history of Mumbai ranging from its underworld to politics to Bollywood. A Place where I had my happiest and worst days. ⠀

At last a salute to all 47 thousand lions of Mumbai Police for protecting 1.3cr⠀

Mumbaikars. It's because of them that we can sleep peacefully. A must-read book for any teen and youths.

BOOK: "As A Man Thinketh"

AUTHOR: James Allen

PUBLICATION: Maple Classics

GENRE: Non-Fiction

PAGES: 50 (paperback)

MY RATINGS: 5/5✨

🍁"As A Man Thinketh", is among those books which are small in size, but are too heavy on your brain. The book revolves around how the man keeps on thinking and digging deep into every matter that comes in his way.

.

🍁Book proves a point in general that everything you achieve or anything that happens to you in real has first happened in your brain. Ones your mind accept the possibilities of something happening, it will surely happen to you. The author explains how human creates their character, manages their health and body, their achievement, and every else thing by their thoughts.

🍁This book has a lot many things which were completely new to me. If you have read the book "The Power of Subconscious Mind" and have felt like not completely fulfilling, this is the book for you. That book explains the basics of the human mind and this book takes that thinking to the next level. Language is a little tricky as a big amount of knowledge is packed with a little number of pages.

.

🍁Mentioning a few of my favorite lines...  (Which are short one..)

-- He that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened..

-- Clean thoughts make clean habits.

-- Circumstances do not make the man, it reveals him to himself.

-- Man does not attack that which they want, but that which they are

Living life and staying alive are both poles apart. Sounds crazy, but it's a fact and what differentiates this both is one's purpose in life. ⠀

And no one can prove this better than the story of Verghese Kurien the Father of the White Revolution. In India and the founder of Amul is a real story of how destiny and purpose can change one's life. ⠀

Being a smart student. He got a scholarship from then British ruled Indian government to study abroad. Coming back to India after Independence he thought of working somewhere. But the government refused and instead told him to go to Anand and work as a dairy engineer.⠀

In Anand, he came in contact with Tribhuvandas Patel. The owner of Kaira District Cooperative" engaged in the production of milk products. After knowing the technical expertise of Mr. Kurien Mr.Patel sought his help in increasing the productivity of his product cost-wise effectively⠀

He thought of offering a small help. But who knew that this small help will then force him to work there for the next 50 years ⠀

The main struggle that came in his way to make Amul was from his own government. Which didn't believe in the ability of the workers as a whole unit to perform. Instead, the government thought of taking help from foreign countries and stay in their mercy for getting milk. But he proved them wrong and showed that the true asset of India is their own people.⠀

At last, he spent his entire life working as an employee of farmers. And has made India a self- independent country in milk production. ⠀

Today, Amul has claimed its place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest-running ad campaign after completing 39 years of the Amul Girl campaign. All happened because of one man's vision and purpose.⠀

Recommendation⠀

I would recommend this book to someone who wants to go aboard and settle there. We all have our duty towards the nation. So think before leaving. And lastly to anyone who wants to realize his/her purpose in life.⠀

Don't let your ego get in the way of making the best possible decision.⠀

Any office going people? Well, office life is not just that 9-5 pm jobs and doing your work well. To get the promotion it's not enough just to do our work properly, but we need one more skill which is neither taught to us by our college or by a family that is 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬. It includes handling your boss, superior, and keeping an eye on junior and colleagues too. Everyone has to go to this phrase in life and if you are from the middle or lower class having no connections, things go much harder.⠀

Such is the story of current CEO of Disney ie 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐈𝐠𝐞𝐫. He started his career as a studio supervisor for ABC television and then went on to become President of that. Then the company was acquired by Disney where he worked under Michael Eisner( previous CEO). Disney at that time was filled with bureaucracy and things weren't going nice for the company even at some point the current CEO started envying him and planned to fire him. And some board members were also against him. So how does he manage to become CEO? ⠀

Well, after becoming CEO also in 2005 things weren't easy for him. The competition was more intense than ever and technology was changing faster than at any time in history. But then too with his great work ethic and creative leadership skills, he made Disney the largest and most respected media company in the world. And acquired two great companies at that time, which is Pixar and Marvel, and made a great business relationship with Steve Jobs. This whole story is explained in detail.⠀

The story is very exciting and teaches us that life is a lot more than our college syllabus. There are continuous ups and downs and last it show that success is just an illusion it is our continuous improvement that brings us the greatest satisfaction.

Review🌸- Highly recommend picking up this teeny-tiny book.

.

#therichestmaninbabylonwritten in 1926, states laws of money which are unchanging. This is the first book I have read on money education and really loved reading it. It’s a beautiful book and can be easily understood by anyone.

.

My takings with lines comprehending same-

.

✅Procrastination can sabotage our goals: “We desire riches; yet, how often when opportunity doth appear before us, that spirit of procrastination from within doth urge various delays in our acceptance. In listening to it we do become our own worst enemies."

✅We cannot get rich quick: "Gold flees the man who would force it to impossible earnings or who followeth the alluring advice of tricksters”

.

✅Not all advice is good advice: “Advice is one thing that is freely given away, but watches that you take only what is worth having. He who takes advice about his savings from one who is inexperienced shall pay with his savings for proving the falsity of their opinion."

.

✅ The money saved should earn more: “Every gold piece you save is a slave to work for you. Every copper it earns is its child that also can earn for you. What you save must earn, and its children must earn, that all may help to give to you the abundance."

.

Constantly self-educate: “The more of wisdom we know, the more we may earn. That man who seeks to learn more of his craft shall be richly rewarded. If he is an artisan, he may seek to learn the methods and the tools of those most skillful in the same line. If he laboreth at the law, he may consult and exchange knowledge with others of his calling. If he is a merchant, he may continually seek better goods that can be purchased at lower prices.”

.

✅Paying ourselves first: “A part of all I earned was mine to keep.”

.

✅ Learn from those who have ages of wisdom: “When a youth comes to age for advice he receives the wisdom of years. But too often does youth think that age knows only the wisdom of days that are gone, and therefore profits not. But remember, the sun that shines today is the sun that shone when thy father was born, and will still be shining when thy last grandchild shall pass into the darkness."
